Mindfulness in Nature: Cultivating a Better Future for Yourself, Others and Our Mother Earth

Saturday June 8

9:00AM - 4:00PM at the Spiritual Life Center at 76 Sherman St in Hartford

During this daylong retreat, we will gather in the morning to greet the day and immerse ourselves in the gifts  of nature through a guided forest bathing session - inviting relaxation and connection to Self, Other, and Earth - grounding us for our discussion ahead. The afternoon session will explore the importance of shared values in shaping our culture. We'll discuss the nature of values, including extrinsic and intrinsic, and how each play a role in our response to the care of life. We'll look at the Schwartz Theory of Basic Values and refer to the Earth Charter as a framework and moral compass to guide Ethical action for a more " Just, sustainable, and peaceful world" for people and planet.

Through reflection, shared conversation, and activities the community of retreatants will be able to identify the values that are most meaningful to them, how they might cultivate and embody them through daily ritual, and bring them into action through their focused endeavors and in everyday encounters.

The retreat concludes with a harvest of our time together as we each go forth to share in building a more beautiful world
